All frontline health and social care workers should receive a Winter Flu vaccine this season. Eligible groups include:
- Health and social care staff employed by a registered residential care/nursing home or registered domiciliary care provider, who are directly involved in the care of vulnerable patients/clients who are at increased risk from exposure to flu;
- Health and social care staff employed by voluntary managed hospice providers, who are directly involved in the care of vulnerable patients/clients who are at increased risk from exposure to flu;
- Health and social care workers employed through Direct Payments (personal budgets) and/or Personal Health Budgets, such as Personal Assistants, to deliver domiciliary care to patients and service users.
All these three groups are eligible for a flu vaccine which can be delivered either by an occupational health offer from their employer, through a pharmacy or through their registered GP. Eligible patients registered with this Practice may book an appointment at one of our upcoming flu clinics by using our online booking form for Eligible Carers and Health and Social Care staff or contact us to make arrangements for this vaccine.

As a carer, you may be eligible for a free NHS Flu Vaccine
Anyone who receives a carer's allowance, a part-time carer or the main carer of an older or disabled person, or a young carer, is eligible for a flu vaccine from their registered GP or a pharmacy.
If the carer fails ill, the welfare of the person or persons they look after may be at risk. Carers must be protected, so they can continue to give care to those they support and stay healthy throughout flu season.

Children's Flu Clinic Information
Flu Vaccines for Children
A clinic to administer Children’s Nasal Flu Vaccines will be held as a drive-through at the Lake Road Verwood Surgery on Tuesday 21st September between 4 pm and 5 pm.
Parents or guardians may complete the CONSENT TO CHILDHOOD IMMUNISATIONS form online. Then the Practice team will print it out, and the clinician will review it again with the parent/guardian at the clinic appointment and ask them to sign it before administering the vaccine.
Children 2-17 years who are immunosuppressed or live with someone who is immunosuppressed qualify for a flu vaccine injection instead of the nasal spray. Please contact us if your child is eligible for us to make arrangements for them to receive this vaccine.
