Community Nurses

This important part of our team takes care of patients in their own homes when it is impossible for them to attend the surgery. They are registered nurses with a period of at least two years qualified experience.  They have also undertaken a specialist qualification in community nursing.  They offer professional and confidential advice and support to patients, their families and carers.  They offer skilled nursing care for acute, chronic, terminally ill patients and patients who are discharged from hospital. Advice can be offered through a period of illness and how to obtain assistance from other agencies e.g. benefits etc.

Nursing equipment, Twilight Nursing Services for patients ill at home, Macmillan Nursing Services, promotion of Continence Service, Stoma Care Nurse, Diabetic Nurse Specialist, Marie Curie Nursing Service, Social Services, Day Centres and Day Hospitals, Voluntary Services and National Support Groups.

A Health Visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
